Pyramidenkogel viewing tower

16 mighty, elliptically arranged larch glulam columns spiral upwards as a “basket structure”. Two viewing platforms are set on top of the structure, which can be reached via the 441 steps or the panorama lift. From a height of around 50 meters, the longest slide in Europe takes you back down into the depths. After opening in 2013, the Pyramidenkogel won the Carinthian Timber Construction Award in the same year.

Sky Walk

This structure, which has no equal in Europe is also called “Sky Walk”. The viewing tower is located in the village of Dolni Morava and is 58.8 m tall. The tower is visible from several kilometres away and stands on the ridge of the Slamnik Mountain.

Traffic sign bridge made of wood

On the southern freeway in Carinthia, STRABAG built Europe’s first traffic sign bridge made of wood on behalf of ASFINAG. The sustainable, almost 30 m long structure made of glued laminated timber special components was erected as a pilot project. The HASSLACHER group supplied the products for the extraordinary bridge. At the Hermagor site, the structure was not only produced, but also equipped with all fasteners and even the necessary electronics, a moisture monitoring system and the traffic signs.

Cycle path bridges

In Anras and Assling in East Tyrol’s Puster Valley, two cycle path bridges in wood-concrete-composite construction were built on behalf of the association “Radwege in Osttirol”. The two special glued laminated timber beams are each 4.1 m wide, and have a length of 32.7 m and 24.7 m, and a thickness of 1.1 m and 0.85 m, and a volume of 125 m³ and 70 m³ respectively. Each supporting structure consists of 17 individual girders, which were block-bonded to form a composite component using a special pressing device. The 25 cm thick concrete slab applied on site is rigidly connected to the wooden supporting structure via milled-in cores and absorbs both the compressive forces in the beam and the structural wood protection.

Anzac Station Melbourne

An 80 metre long timber structure spans the entrance to the new underground station on St. Kilda Road in Melbourne, Australia.  The impressive torus-shaped roof consists of diagonally arranged and curved glued laminated timber beams resting on steel supports.

Marche de Sainte-Foy

The striking wavelike structure of the roof construction is what makes this building, designed to be a Marketplace hall, remarkable. A total of approximately 300 m³ of glued laminated timber, including 23.5 meter long curved glued laminated timber beams with pre-installed steel connections and surface finish were delivered to Quebec City, Canada. A further highlight was that the curved beams were shipped to Canada by “break bulk”, requiring careful packaging measures to ensure a safe and undamaged transport.

111 East Grand Office

The “111 East Grand Office” has been the first speculative office building in “Des Moines” for over 10 years and is located in a prominent location right next to the City Hall.  The designers of the timber structure, together with Neumann Monson Architects and Ryan Co., designed and implemented a 4-storey solid timber building, which offers enough space for business premises and commercial office space on around 6,000 m². The supporting structure consists of large glued laminated timber ceiling elements and a skeleton of glued laminated timber beams and supports.

Wooden Sphere

In 2019, a masterpiece of engineering and an entirely new type of adventure architecture opened its doors in Steinberg am See, Germany.  The world’s largest walkable wooden sphere (capacity for 950 visitors at a time) by inMotion Park Seenland GmbH is superlative in many ways. With a weight of over 500 tons, a height of 40 metres and a diameter of almost 50 metres, this project can already be seen from afar. 627 m³ of glued laminated timber, 190 tons of steel parts, 40,000 screws, 18,000 bolts/building screws/dowels, 3,300 m² cladding panels and 2,200 meters of railing – these are just a few of the key features of this enormous project.

Haikou Community Center HASSLACHER Referenzen

Haikou Community Center

Haikou is a city in the north of Province Hainan in China and is also its capital and economic centre. The project Haikou Community Center is intended to symbolize the dawn of a new age and to transfer the old timber construction tradition into the modern age. 1,300 m³ of glued laminated timber special components were used to span a brick building and to expand the covered area. The roof was covered with shingles to give the construction a natural look and to embed it perfectly into the tropical surroundings of the popular holiday island. The glued laminated timber used was produced at the HASSLACHER group’s location in Hermagor and shipped by container to the port of Hong Kong.
